National Association of Brothers and Sisters In & Out (NABSIO)

No Inmate Left Behind!

The National Association of Brothers & Sisters In and Out (NABSIO) was founded in 1992 by Dr. Donald Ray Evans Sr., C.E.O and Co-founder Nathaniel Perkins-Ali out of a desire to teach African-American prisoners their history. Their families, and all other persons associated with the prison system are encouraged to join us in addressing functional illiteracy and cultural ignorance of the incarcerated African-American.

The NABSIO Mission

The mission of the National Association of Brothers and Sisters In & Out (NABSIO) is to assist in putting an end to the atrocities that have befallen African-American’s in this country. Through our Afrocentric Prison Ministry we intend to help rebuild, regroup and learn to rethink in order to be successful as a people.

NABSIO seeks to accomplish its purposes by focusing on the holistic well being of the inmate, family, and community as a complete unit.  By working with family support systems in education, economics, legal, church and business community, a new approach in prison ministry is offered by our organization.  A national voice for the incarcerated descendants of American slaves is NABSIO!
